Swara Bhaskar, who got a fair amount of acclaim for her performance in this year's much-liked Nil Battey Sannata, is all set to join the digital bandwagon.
The actress will be seen in director Danish Aslam's upcoming 6-part web series It's Not That Simple, which has been entirely shot in Mumbai and is set to premiere online in September.
Aslam's previous credits include the Deepika Padukone-starrer Break Ke Baad(2010), which he directed, while he's been an assistant director on other titles like Salaam Namaste (2005) and Thoda Pyaar, Thoda Magic (2008).
However, in recent years, the director moved on to directing television soaps while a film that was to have a homosexual spin on Romeo-Juliet, to be produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures,was aborted after much back-and-forth.
The new series, which is being produced by Viacom 18's streaming service Voot, will also star Vivan Bhatena, Akshay Oberoi, and Karanveer Mehra.
In a statement shared with the press, Swara was quoted as saying, "The digital space is really the new 'circus ring' so to speak where all the new and innovative action is taking place. I wanted to explore this medium as well."
About the show's concept, she said, "It is a wonderful and fresh concept. It's daring and yet intimate, pushing the boundaries and yet relatable and real. I play a character that I've never played before."
