The multi-talented Panchu Arunachalam passes away





Veteran writer-director-lyricist- producer Panchu Arunachalam passed away just now and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and the film fraternity. He was the nephew of Kavigniar Kannadasan and has also worked as a lyricist in a few films.He introduced Isaigniani Illayaraja to the Tamil cinema with 'Annakili'.
Notable among Panchu Arunachalam films produced under the prestigious PA Arts banner are ‘Priya’, ‘Aarilirundhu Arubadhu Varai’, ‘Engeyo Ketta Kural’ ‘Guru Sishyan’ and ‘Veera’ with Rajinikanth and ‘Kalyanaraman’, ‘Jappanil Kalyanaraman’ and ‘Michael Madhana Kamarajan’ with Kamal Haasan. He has also written close to fifty films, including ‘Thambikku Entha Ooru’, ‘Singaravelan’ and ‘Apoorva Sagodharargal’ and the Sivaji Ganesan super hit ‘Avanthan Manithan’. He is survived by his son Subbu Panchu the noted character actor.
