THE 9 PROBLEMS IN KATHTHI!

Industrialization and what it does to the impoverished is another issue that is featured in Kaththi.

The much expected Ilayathalapathy Vijay - AR Murugadoss' Kaththi is running to packed houses, with fans thronging for multiple views. In this week's Slideshow, we have the 9 problems shown in Kaththi.

WATER SCARCITY
'Water Scarcity' is the running theme of Kaththi. The director has made sure that the problem's seriousness, which most people take for granted, is felt in the sequences in which the urbane go berserk without water for 3 days, while there are villages that hasn’t had water for years.

WHAT'S COMMUNISM?
Namma pasi poga saapdura innoru idli aduthavanodathu - The another idli we eat when our stomachs are full is someone else's.

Jeevanandam's fight is for this ideology, which is lost along with the impoverished. The lack of awareness about this 'for all' principle is the other backbone of the movie.

And fans: “To Kaththi's Repeat Audience - In a week of full shows, the 2nd ticket you buy for yourself is someone else's.“

THE STRIVING CAPITALISM
Corporate ngrathu oru silanthi valai, athula maatina oru poochi thaan gramam - Villages are just insects stuck in the wide Corporate Web.

NAIVETY ISN'T A TRAIT TO BE CHERISHED
Jeevanandam's naivety, when surrounded by foxes, only delayed the justice. Only after someone who can look back and give back what should be given, justice was served.

Kaththi argues that being naive isn't an acceptable trait.

CORRUPTION
Corruption is the root of all evil.

To right a wrong, all it takes is a price as 'everyone out there has a price tag.'

Kaththi has scenes that showcase the corruption that has grown into bureaucracy and judiciary!

LACK OF PASSION AMONG SENIOR CITIZEN
Retirement isn't based on your Date of Birth. It's more of your will.

When people like Thanthai Periyar, Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi fought for the needs of people when they were way post the retirement age, why can't the just-in-paper retired stand for their needs?

Kaththi asks this rightful question.

WHAT BECOMES NEWS?
Every news story has a value - Someone who says he will alight himself has some value, and someone who alights himself has a higher value. The basic needs of people doesn't find much value to be given slots in TV Channels and coverage in dailies.

The insensitive media is another issue Kaththi has touched upon.

THE FARMERS' SAD PLIGHT
When farmers' state isn't worthy enough to give them attention, they are forced adopt the one way left for them to get attention, Motha TVyum Pathirikaiyum vivasayatha thirumbi paaka vivasayigalukku therinja orey vazhi - Mass Suicide.

The dialogues - “Unga munnadi arisi kondu vara therinja engalukku, kashtatha kondu varra theriyala” and “Nammala patni pottavangalukku namma saapadu podanum” - capture the farmers' munificence even in times of extreme duress.

THE OPENING CREDITS
Kaththi starts right from the minute the opening credits roll out. Though the symbolism used is subtle, it's powerful. We have silhouettes of machines (which displaces the poorer sections of the population from their basic needs) in outlines of birds, cows, and women - representing the living and humane.

Industrialization and what it does to the impoverished is another issue that is featured in Kaththi.
