They have absolutely nothing in common as far as their movie careers go but now it seems that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sunny Leone will soon have a song-and-dance connection.
Mirror has learnt that Sunny is busy rehearsing a dance number for her upcoming film Leela which will soon be shot in Mumbai’s Film City. The song in question is Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje, the hit track from the 1999 Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai starrer Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The original song was composed by Ismail Darbar and sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Vinod Rathod and Karsan Sagathia. The makers of Leela will record the song with different singers and the tune is being modernised too.
Said a source close to the development, “Ahmed Khan, whose brother Bobby is directing the film, came up with the idea. He bounced it off to Bhushan Kumar who owns the song rights and immediately got the green signal from him.”
The source added, “The song will be shot on a lavish scale with Sunny in an elaborate outfit. It’s a festive number but not a garba song.”
When contacted, choreographer Ahmed Khan confirmed the news, admitting that it’s a tall order to live up to the popularity of the original track. “But I’m confident Sunny will pull it off,” he asserted.
The original song was choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant, Sami and Arsh Tanna, who won the National Award for it.
